Coinciding with the 90th anniversary of the establishment of protected areas in the country, the DENR in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and state colleges and universities will lead the celebration of the “Year of Protected Areas in the Philippines”. The celebration aims to highlight the development of finance solutions identified by the DENR-BIOFIN project to help the government close the annual financing gap to implement the PBSAP alongside local biodiversity finance plans and projects. As part of the 2022 celebration, a month dedicated to protected areas will be identified and celebrated annually to ensure the sustainability of the campaign.
