Agusan Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary in the province of Agusan del Sur has been officialy declared as the 9th ASEAN Heritage Park of the Philippines.
The Certificate of Recognition was officially received by the Provincial government during the 6th ASEAN Heritage Parks (AHPs) Conference in Pakse, People’s Democratic Republic of Laos through their Department of Forestry, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
The recognition coincides with the 35th anniversary celebration of the 1st 1st ASEAN Declaration on Heritage Parks and Reserves. The theme of the celebration this year is “Sustainability and Innovation for Parks and People—Celebrating 35 years of ASEAN Heritage Parks.”
The ad referendum of the declaration was approved last Novembre 8, 2018 through the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on the Environment.
