The Department of Environment and Natural Resources thru the Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB) will lead the country’s celebration of the 2023 World Wildlife Day (WWD). Celebrated annually every 3rd day of March, this date was chosen as it is the birthday of CITES, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, which was signed in 1973.
This year’s World Wildlife Day celebration coincides with the celebration of CITES as it turns 50 years. In recognition of the work CITES does, and the collaborative work for protection and conservation that is going on globally, the theme for World Wildlife Day this year is ‘Partnerships for Wildlife Conservation‘.
An activity filled celebration that includes a MOA Signing between BMB and Cebu Pacific, the awarding of law enforcement and conservation partners and webinar is planned to highlight the event.
