The Department of Environment and Natural Resources through the Biodiversity Management Bureau conducted regional consultation workshops for the Localization of the Philippine Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (PBSAP) 2015-2028). The workshops were conducted back to back with the Regional Consultation for the Preparation of the 6th National Report to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
Six regional consultations were held with representatives from different government agencies and local government unit executives of the different provinces in the regions were invited to provide their inputs on the PBSAP localization and monitoring of the the accomplishment of the Aichi targets. One Mindanao Stakeholders Consultation on Biodiversity Research Agenda was held last November 4-6,2019 in Davao City. Representatives from DENR Regional officea 8-13 and BARMM, Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Commission on Higher Education plus representatives from various SUCs and HEIs in the region participated. The Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau (ERDB) of DENR facilitated the workshop together with Biodiversity Management Bureau.
The workshop agreements and next steps of the workshop are as follows:
- ERDB will consolidate and compile all R&D studies based on the workshop outputs and identify gaps before nd of 2019
- ERDB will process network, submit proceedings to the DENR,CHED and SUC’s for comments prior to finalization
- Identification of funding windows for future R&D in preparation for the scheduled One Mindanao R&D for BD Summit in 2020 to be spearheaded by ERDB.
