The Gabay Kalikasan Park, a proposed new Linear Park in Barangay Mariana, District 4, Quezon City was formally launched during its groundbreaking ceremony held last March 9, 2023.
Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) -Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB) Caves, Wetlands and other Ecosystems Division OIC Chief Anson Tagtag; DENR National Capital Region (DENR-NCR) Regional Executive Director Jacqueline Caancan; Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC) Executive Director and Chief Sustainability, Finance and Risk Officer Chaye Cabal-Revilla; Quezon City Government (QC LGU) Parks Development and Administration Department OIC Ar. Baltazar Avelino; and Brgy. Mariana, District 4, Quezon City Punong Barangay Regina Celeste San Miguel led the groundbreaking ceremony.
The Gabay Kalikasan Park is part of the Memorandum of Agreement for the Building a Biodiversity Friendly Urban Development Project thru the Adopt-a-City scheme among the DENR-BMB, DENR-NCR, QC LGU and MPIC signed on March 15, 2022. The Adopt-a-City scheme is a collaborative-based strategy that encourages the private sector to support urban biodiversity projects such as the establishment of urban parks.
The Gabay Kalikasan Park is expected to be inaugurated by the second quarter of 2023.
