The Protected Area Information System (PAIS) serves as the official, online centralized database of information covering all designated Protected Areas across the Philippines.
Managed under the Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), PAIS acts as a critical digital infrastructure supporting decision-making, policy formulation and management of Protected areas.

To inform stakeholders on their roles and to capacitate Protected Area managers in the updating of their respective data in the system, BMB recently spearheaded the conduct of series of PAIS Regional Re-Orientation and Re-Tooling workshops. This initiative brings together Protected Area Management Office (PAMO) staff, the Regional Conservation and Development Division (CDD) representatives and ICT focal units to update and train them on the functionalities of the current version of the system. Part of the training was defining concrete reporting and management responsibilities among CDD leads and ICT focal teams as well as clarifying standard submission timelines and establishing uniform reporting templates. Reorientation for Regions 1, 3, 4A, 6, 8 and 10 had already been conducted. The remaining re-orientations for Regions 9, 12 and 13 are scheduled this 2nd semester of 2026.
