The Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB) under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) lead the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDBD) 2026 celebration.
Highlight of the celebration was the launching of its first content creation contest for local biodiversity action called Videodiversity: Samot-Saring Kuwento para sa Samot-Saring Lokal na Aksiyon and social media campaign.

Aligning with the theme “Acting locally for global impact,” the IDBD celebration emphasized how local initiatives contribute to addressing global biodiversity issues. The contest also specifically showcased various sectors that collaborate and act towards an urgent and effective implementation of the Philippine Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (PBSAP) 2024-2040.
Through IDBD, Filipinos continue to strengthen their local participatory approach and reaffirm their commitment to preserving the Philippines’ natural heritage and promoting biodiversity resilience towards a more sustainable future. For a global impact, locals take the lead role in conserving and restoring biodiversity.
