It’s all set for the World Wetlands Day (WWD) 2024 Celebration. This national celebration on February 2 graces the year 2024 with the theme “Wetlands and Human Wellbeing”, providing opportunity for all nations and people to come together to spread awareness, appreciation and action for wetlands. Focusing on the ecosystem goods and services, we value our local wetlands as sources of not just sustenance and climate resilience, but also as inspiration.
This year’s theme “Wetlands and Human Wellbeing” focuses how all aspects of human wellbeing are tied to the health of the world’s wetlands : physical, mental and environmental. It emphasize how interconnected wetlands and human life have been throughout history- with people drawing sustenance, inspiration and resilience from these productive ecosystems. And lastly it underscores the critical need for human stewardship of the world’s wetlands.
So let us conserve our wetlands, let us improve our wellbeing!
